Fort Oglethorpe

The Fort was famous as the home of the women's Third WAC Training Center, and some of the courtyard bricks were made by German prisoners of war.

Fort Oglethorpe was incorporated as a city in 1949 and was named in honor of General James Edward Oglethorpe, an officer of the British Army and the first Governor of Georgia.
